Tropical Storm & Hurricane Checklist

Storm Preparation

Tropical storm/Hurricane season is in full effect. It is crucial to be prepared for a worst-case scenario and have a plan in place for the potentially harmful events a storm can bring. Check out these important safety tips and sites for more information:

Safety Tips

  1. Do NOT enter your home unless it is safe to do so
  2. Protect the safety and well being of you and your family
  3. Install hurricane shutters if they are available on your home
  4. Move outdoor furniture and other loose items indoors or safely secure it
  5. If you lose power, do not cook on an outdoor grill in an enclosed/indoor area. This is a fire hazard that can be easily avoided.
  6. Create an emergency supply kit with enough non-perishable food and water to last at least three days, emergency medical supplies, daily medications, and other life saving emergency items
  7. Know the evacuation zones, routes, and shelters in your area
  8. If you have damages, take photos of your damage before repairs
  9. Keep any receipts or invoices for expenses in making temporary repairs
